Helena Vilaplana

Helena Vilaplana is a film and television executive with over 15 years of experience in the US and Europe. She has worked across development, acquisitions, and content curation for companies like HBO (Warner Bros. Discovery) and Audible; for public entities like the European Commission and the Government of Catalonia; and for producers and talent like Roy Lee, Casey Affleck, and John Middleton. She has also collaborated with film festivals like Fantastic Fest, the Los Angeles Latino Film Festival, Scout Film Festival, and DocsBarcelona; with non-profit organizations like Women in Film and NALIP; and has been a guest speaker at universities like USC and UCLA in Los Angeles and ESCAC Film School in Spain. Originally from Barcelona, Helena moved to California in 2013 to attend the “Peter Stark Producing Program” at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. She is a recipient of the prestigious La Caixa Foundation scholarship and holds an MFA in Film Production and a BA in Audiovisual Communication. Passionate about discovering and empowering emerging talent, she has most recently been invited to join BAFTA Connect and Berlinale Talents 2023.
