Film professionals will be the protagonists of the second RAMPA webinar, with the director of the ICAA, Beatriz Navas, and the production director Manuela Ocón

The second session of the RAMPA PROFESSIONAL MEETING ON AUDIOVISUAL INDUSTRY will be dedicated to cienma professionals, with a long-awaited webinar with the participation of two of the most experienced and leading women in the sector in Spain: the general director of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts of the Ministry of Culture and Sport (ICAA), Beatriz Navas, and the cinema researcher and professor, Manuela Ocón.

Beatriz Navas Valdés holds a PhD in audiovisual communication from the Complutense University of Madrid with a thesis on the German filmmaker Werner Herzog. She has developed her career as a cultural manager and audiovisual researcher and has been curator of the audiovisual programme The Artist's House, at the Villa Stuck Museum in Munich.

From 2008 she was in charge of the audiovisual department of the contemporary culture centre La Casa Encendida and from 2014 to 2017 also responsible for the performing and audiovisual arts area. There she coordinated the programming of music, film, dance, performance and activities for children and family audiences, focusing on new formats that serve to reflect on digital culture and the audiovisual medium in all its forms, formats, uses, abuses and potential, as well as promoting projects aimed at addressing the gender gap in the cultural sector. These include initiatives such as the Princesses and Darth Vaders Festival, She Makes Noise, De Salonnières and Girls on fire!

She has also published the book Y ahora, lo importante (Caballo de Troya), written articles on audiovisual creation, given courses and conferences, and participated as a jury member in different audiovisual competitions. She is co-founder of the online platform for avant-garde and independent film PLAT and is currently director general of the Instituto de la Cinematografía y las Artes AudiovisualeS (ICAA) of the Ministry of Culture and Sport.

Manuela Ocón, who is participating in the Meeting at the proposal of the APPA (Association of Audiovisual Production Professionals), will present her new publication on "Gender inequality in managerial positions in the creation of fiction production and time management".

Manuela graduated in Information Sciences in 1996, and since then she has worked in numerous production teams, making her first film as a production manager in 2003. Her last production was finished shooting in October 2021 and she is currently involved in the development of different projects. In recent years she has worked as production manager on feature films such as El hombre de las mil caras, La isla mínima, Grupo 7, the TV movie for Antena 3 No soy como tu and series such as La Peste for Movistar +.

She has combined her work as a producer with research and teaching. In 2017 she defended her doctoral thesis at the University of Seville analysing the use of time in relation to gender inequality in managerial positions in Spanish fiction production. Since 2019 she is part of a research group on this topic at the University of Malaga.

She is a founding member of the Andalusian Film Academy, a member of the Academy of Cinematographic Arts, of the CIMA and AAMMA associations and a member of the board of directors of APPA. She has also been nominated three times for the Goya Awards and has been awarded the ASECAN 2021 Prize for the best film book for her research work in the field of film.
